A message from my father…

Dr Shah Shahin is a researcher, educator, and consultant whose work sits at the intersection of Islamic law, interfaith dialogue, social enterprise, and institutional reform. With a PhD in Theology and Philosophy from the University of London (Heythrop College), Dr Shahin brings over 20 years of cross-sector expertise spanning academic research, policy development, community engagement, and strategic programme design.
Currently serving as Head of Research at ADL Research, Dr Shahin leads groundbreaking investigations into Islamic ethics, comparative legal systems, and financial instruments—particularly focusing on waqf (charitable endowments), life insurance, and ethical risk-sharing in Islamic finance.
His doctoral research marked a landmark contribution to the study of Britain’s ʿulamāʾ (Islamic scholars), offering a pioneering analysis of the epistemological foundations behind the work of Shari’a councils. Through this, he explored the intellectual, legal, and theological tensions faced by scholars navigating British secular law alongside Islamic jurisprudence.
Beyond academia, Dr Shahin has worked extensively as a programme consultant and advisor for governmental bodies and educational institutions across the UK, Malaysia, and the Middle East. His collaborators include JAKIM, JKSM, JPA, and the World Islamic Call Society. He has delivered high-impact training in areas such as interfaith leadership, chaplaincy, and cultural competency, and served as a trusted liaison for cross-cultural initiatives.
A passionate advocate for educational equity, Dr Shahin founded a pioneering online learning platform designed to support the intellectual and spiritual development of Muslim women—well before digital education became the norm. Inspired by his executive training at Cambridge Judge Business School and ESSEC Business School, the project reflects his deep commitment to inclusive learning and faith-based empowerment.
As a long-time proponent of pluralism, Dr Shahin’s approach is rooted not in trend or tokenism, but in decades of lived, values-driven practice. While DEI has become a buzzword in recent years, his work in cross-cultural dialogue and religious literacy predates this movement by over a decade—anchored in sincerity, mutual respect, and transformative relationship-building.
With additional expertise in data analytics, digital content creation, and multilingual engagement, Dr Shahin embodies the kind of critical, compassionate, and socially responsive scholarship that defines a new generation of faith-informed leadership.
